Personal Journeys for Global Change
with
James ODea Van Jones

When thinking about how personal journeys can affect change, it’s interesting to reflect that the world we are experiencing today is the result of our collective consciousness, and if we want to live in a better world, each of us must start taking responsibility for helping to create it. You’ll hear an inspiring conversation with two visionary leaders who have devoted their lives to personal transformation and social change. Some of the topics we’ll explore include:
- the journeys that led ODea and Jones to the important work theyre doing now
- what steps guarantee an economic win-win for creating green collar jobs
- why personal consciousness and social healing are necessary for true global change
- how the IONS Shift in Action program reaches many to encourage societal transformation
- Vans role in Nancy Pelosis initiative to create a Clean Energy Jobs Bill and Green Technology Job Centers

Van Jones is teaching at Princeton University and is a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, focusing on “green-collar jobs” and how cities are implementing job-creating climate solutions. He is a co-founder of three successful nonprofit organizations: the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, Color of Change, and Green For All. He now serves as a leader in The American Dream Movement, as well as an eco-visionary, civil rights attorney, and public speaker. Van is working to integrate solutions to America’s two biggest problems: social inequality and environmental destruction. Jones envisions a national initiative that will create a green pathway out of poverty and diversify the coalitions that are fighting global warming — reflected in his best-selling book The Green Collar Economy.
